February 26, 2025 A Pawsitively Fun Library Visit! At Friends of the Children - Houston, we believe that reading opens doors to endless possibilities. That’s why our youth and mentors regularly visit the library to build literacy skills and explore the magic of books. During a recent visit to the Barbara Bush Library, one of our youth had an extra special experience—reading aloud to a therapy dog! Reading can sometimes feel intimidating, but with a gentle, four-legged listener, it became a fun and confidence-boosting activity. Our visit was a reminder of the importance of fostering a love of reading early on. Books have the power to inspire, to teach, and to transport us to new worlds. By providing our youth with access to literacy resources and meaningful reading experiences, we’re equipping them with the tools they need to dream big and achieve their goals. March is National Reading Month, and we’re excited to keep creating moments that make reading engaging and accessible. Whether it’s finding a new favorite book, sharing stories with mentors, or reading to a furry friend, we love seeing our youth grow into confident readers!
