Spreading Kindness Through Creativity

Guided discussions and creative activities reinforce our mentoring values

We recently invited program youth to the clubhouse to explore the theme “Love Thy Neighbor.” With the guidance of their mentors, they talked about kindness, empathy, and what it looks like to support the people around them. Together, they considered how those choices can look different at home, at school, and in their communities. These conversations are central to our mentoring approach, helping children reflect on their actions, understand others’ perspectives, and strengthen the social and emotional skills they carry into everyday life.

After the discussion, the kids brought their ideas to life through art. Each child created a small painting to gift to a friend or family member, practicing thoughtfulness and the kind of intentional relationship-building that is core to our 12+ year mentoring model. The activity reinforced that small, consistent acts of care matter, while giving children space to express themselves creatively.

The afternoon ended with a collaborative cookie decorating activity, where kids and mentors worked side by side before sharing a snack together. Beyond the fun, decorating cookies offered another opportunity to practice teamwork, communication, and connection. By pairing reflection with hands-on activities and shared experiences, our program creates space for children to grow in confidence, deepen relationships, and live out the values they are learning each day.
