Stand Together Highlights Friends of the Children - Houston in Latest Article

Friends of the Children – Houston is making headlines again, this time in a feature by Stand Together, which highlights the impactful partnership with World Champion gymnast and youth advocate Simone Biles. Simone, who spent part of her childhood in foster care, has become a passionate advocate for our organization. Her dedication to breaking the cycle of generational poverty is reflected in her efforts to establish the Houston chapter last year.

The feature underscores how Friends of the Children pairs youth facing great obstacles with long-term professional mentors, known as Friends, to create lasting change. Simone’s commitment to this cause is personal—her own experiences drive her to uplift children facing similar challenges like foster care and mental health.

Since our launch, Friends of the Children – Houston has introduced its first cohort of 24 youth and three mentors and Simone competed at the 2024 Olympics her story and the work being done in Houston are inspiring a new generation of children to overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams.
