A Game Day to Remember
When the Houston Gamblers ran through the tunnel at Shell Energy Stadium in downtown Houston this past Sunday, our kids were standing right there to meet them, hands up for high fives as the players rushed past. Most fans watch game day from their seats. Our kids got to feel it from the inside.
The afternoon came together through our Football with Friends partnership with the Houston Gamblers, who made sure our children had a real experience rather than just a view from the stands. They walked the field, stood in the tunnel, and soaked up the noise and energy before kickoff. Once the game began, our kids settled into the stands with their families, cheering through every play together. The Gamblers won, too, which gave everyone one more thing to celebrate.
The day was possible because people showed up. Every discounted ticket put $5 back into our programs, and reaching our goal of 50 tickets sold is what unlocked the on-field experience for our kids. None of it happens without the donors and supporters who get behind our work. They are the reason our kids stood in that tunnel, and the reason a Sunday afternoon turned into a day these kids will remember.
We are grateful to the Houston Gamblers for treating our kids like part of the team, and to everyone who bought a ticket and came out. Here's to the next one.
