Samuel Woods

Professional Mentor

Samuel Woods began his journey in childcare during high school, working as a program leader in a before and after school care program for elementary-aged children. That early experience opened his eyes to the challenges youth face and the transformative impact a caring adult can have. It also laid the foundation for his long-term commitment to supporting young people.

Samuel pursued a degree in Psychology with the intention of helping youth in a therapeutic setting. Over time, however, his passion for mentorship and community engagement led him toward the nonprofit sector. Influenced by the mentors and coaches who shaped his own interests in art and athletics, Samuel began volunteering as a youth basketball coach—an experience that deepened his belief in the importance of safe, supportive spaces for youth to grow through movement and healthy competition.

Later in his college career, Samuel worked with a Huntsville-based program that prepares youth aging out of the foster care system with skills for long-term career success. That experience provided him with a deeper understanding of the foster care system and further affirmed his belief in the power of consistent, intentional support.

As a traveling teacher, Samuel gained a broad view of the education system and witnessed the inequities that exist within it. Though he spent time in sales, he was continually drawn back to youth-focused work. He is passionate about helping young people understand themselves more fully so they can lead and serve their communities with confidence.

Samuel is excited to grow alongside a mission-driven team and serve as a steady, compassionate mentor to the next generation of leaders.
