Niria is a proud Mexican American who immigrated to the United States from Mexico at the age of three and is a native Houstonian. She attended Houston ISD schools, earned an associate's degree from Houston Community College, and completed her undergraduate degree in Social Sciences at the University of Houston-Downtown.
With over 18 years of experience at Houston ISD, Niria has worked with students ranging from Pre-K to 12th grade in various academic support roles, including Interventionist, Teaching Assistant, Associate Teacher, Tutor, and WrapAround Specialist.
In addition to her professional experience, she has volunteered, mentored, and worked with the Boys & Girls Club of America and the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center. Niria is deeply passionate about helping, empowering, inspiring, and advocating for children. She strives to create impactful and meaningful relationships and understands the importance of being a positive, supportive mentor who embodies empathy, encouragement, and genuine friendship.
