BOARD: Debbie Karakowsky

Debbie Karakowsky is a dedicated Houston-area civic leader and advocate. She earned her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 2005 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law in 2008, going on to practice professionally in commercial litigation. Today, she focuses her time entirely on community governance, strategy, and volunteerism. She serves as an officer on the Board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, leading community allocations and strategic planning, and is a member of the Bellaire Board of Adjustments. Her extensive background in local nonprofit leadership also includes past board service for CYJ Texas and Congregation Brith Shalom, as well as many years spent on a local nonprofit scholarship committee. A hands-on volunteer, she has co-chaired multiple casino and auction night fundraisers and regularly gives her time to Seven Acres and The Medallion. She lives in Bellaire with her husband and their four children.
